The homepage is built from sections. Each one is also a pattern you can insert on any page, under Pawtani: Homepage sections. To change the homepage, go to Appearance → Editor, open it, and edit, move or delete sections.
The sections

The Treat Kitchen and Cat Studio starters have their own homepages, Homepage: Treat Kitchen and Homepage: Cat Studio. Each is a page template you can choose for any page set as your homepage, with sections such as category cards and an Order again reminder.
Where the links go
The homepage sections link to product categories by slug. Categories you don’t have are left out, and a category without products says New products coming soon.
| Section | Category slugs |
|---|---|
| Shop by pet | dog-essentials, cat-essentials, birds, small-pets, fish |
| Shop by need | food-treats, toys, walking-accessories, beds-comfort, grooming, travel |
| The daily walk edit | walking-accessories |
| Comfort at home | beds-comfort |
| Playtime collection | toys |
Give your categories these slugs (Products → Categories → Slug), or change the links in the Site Editor. Cards use the category’s thumbnail when it has one, so add a Thumbnail to each category to show your own photography.
Developers can change the pet and need lists with the pawtani_shop_by_pet and pawtani_shop_by_need filters.
Newsletter
Pawtani doesn’t collect email addresses itself. To show a signup form:
- Install a newsletter plugin, such as MailPoet, Mailchimp for WordPress or The Newsletter Plugin.
- Copy its form shortcode.
- Paste it into Appearance → Pawtani → Store settings → Newsletter form shortcode and save.
The newsletter section and the footer’s newsletter row then show your form. Until a working form is set, they link to your journal instead of showing a form that wouldn’t send anywhere.
