Choose a header or footer
- Go to Appearance → Editor → Patterns, then Header (or Footer) under Template parts.
- Open the header, click the ⋮ menu (or select the header block), and choose Replace.
- Pick one of Cartavera’s designs and Save.

Edit the logo, menu and links
Open the header in Appearance → Editor → Patterns → Header and click what you want to change.
- Logo: select the Site Logo block and upload your logo. The site title shows when there’s no logo.
- Navigation row: this is a Navigation block. The first time the header is shown it lists Today’s Deals, Best Sellers, New Arrivals and your top product categories. Add, remove or reorder links like any Navigation block.
- Footer links: the footer columns are ordinary blocks. Click a link to change its text or URL.
After you save, the menu is yours. Until you save the header, Cartavera builds the menu from your current categories, so a new category appears on its own. Once you edit and save the header in the Site Editor, WordPress stores it as you left it, and a category you add later won’t appear until you add it to the menu. To go back to the automatic version, open the header and choose Reset (⋮ → Reset or Clear customizations).
The “Today’s Deals” link goes to the page that uses the Deals page (sale products) template. Create that page if you want the link to work; the Marketplace starter creates one for you.
Category drawer
The All button in the header (the ☰ button on phones) opens a panel that slides out from the side. It lists your categories, which expand to show subcategories, plus store and account links. It needs the Cartavera Blocks plugin.
Select the Category Drawer block to change its label, hide the label, or hide the store links.
Mega menu
Replace your header with Marketplace header with mega menu. On screens 782 px and wider, each top category opens a panel with its category image and up to eight subcategories. It works with the keyboard: Enter or Space opens a panel, the arrow keys move between categories and Escape closes it. On phones the header shows the category drawer instead.
Select the Mega Menu block to change how many categories it shows (default 6), how many subcategories each panel lists (default 8), and whether category images show.
Category images come from Products → Categories → category → Thumbnail.
Sticky compact header
With this on, the header stays at the top while shoppers scroll. Once they scroll past it, only the main row (logo, search, account and cart) stays visible. The page doesn’t jump, because the header keeps its space.
- Open the header in Appearance → Editor → Patterns → Header.
- Open List View and select the outermost Group block of the header.
- In the block settings, under Styles, choose Sticky compact header.
- Save.
It’s off by default.
Store Search
The search bar in the header searches your products, with a category selector and live suggestions (picture, name, price and stock) as the shopper types. It works with the keyboard and with screen readers, and still searches without JavaScript.
Select the Store Search block to change the placeholder text, hide the category selector, turn off suggestions, or show more or fewer suggestions (default 6).
Account menu
The account menu shows a greeting and a dropdown with the shopper’s WooCommerce account pages (orders, addresses and so on). Signed-out shoppers get sign-in links.
Newsletter footer
The Footer with newsletter sign-up has a Sign up button, not a form, because WordPress has no built-in form block. By default it links to #newsletter. Click the button and set its link to your email provider’s sign-up page. Developers can set it once for every newsletter pattern with the cartavera_newsletter_url filter.
Checkout header and footer
The checkout page uses its own simpler header (logo, the page’s purpose and a link back to the cart) and footer (policy links), so shoppers aren’t pulled away while paying. Edit them in Appearance → Editor → Patterns, under the Checkout header and Checkout footer template parts. The cart page uses your normal header and footer.
