Using Rule Presets

Rule presets help you create common delivery rules faster.

Instead of starting with an empty rule, you can choose a preset such as Same-day dispatch, Standard shipping, Express shipping, Backorder products, Made-to-order products, or International shipping.

After choosing a preset, you can review and edit the rule before saving it.

What are rule presets? #

Rule presets are ready-made rule templates.

They include suggested values for:

  • processing time
  • delivery time after dispatch
  • cutoff time
  • working days
  • stock status
  • message template
  • common rule conditions

Presets do not change your store until you save the rule.

Where to find rule presets #

To use a rule preset:

  1. Go to WooCommerce → Delivery Promise.
  2. Open the Rules tab.
  3. Click Create from Preset.
  4. Choose a preset.
  5. Review the prefilled rule.
  6. Adjust the conditions if needed.
  7. Save the rule.

Recommended first presets #

For a typical store, start with:

  1. Standard shipping
  2. Express shipping
  3. Backorder products
  4. International shipping, if you sell internationally

This gives you a good base for most delivery scenarios.

Example setup #

You can create these rules:

Standard Shipping
Processing: 1–2 days
Transit: 3–5 days
Express Shipping
Processing: 0–1 days
Transit: 1–2 days
Cutoff: 14:00
Backorder Products
Processing: 7–14 days
Transit: 2–5 days

This allows customers to see more accurate delivery estimates depending on the product and shipping method.

Testing preset rules #

After saving a preset rule:

  1. Open the Tester tab.
  2. Select a product.
  3. Choose the relevant shipping method or stock status.
  4. Run the preview.
  5. Confirm the expected rule matched.

Troubleshooting #

The preset rule is not applying #

Check:

  • the rule was saved
  • the rule is enabled
  • the shipping method condition is selected
  • the product/category condition is correct
  • the stock status matches
  • another rule has higher priority

The preset estimate looks wrong #

Presets are only suggested starting points.

Edit the rule timing to match your real store workflow.

I selected a preset but nothing changed on the frontend #

Selecting a preset does not change the frontend until the rule is saved.

Open the rule editor, review the settings, and save the rule.
