# Using Rule Presets

Rule presets help you create common delivery rules faster.

Instead of starting with an empty rule, you can choose a preset such as Same-day dispatch, Standard shipping, Express shipping, Backorder products, Made-to-order products, or International shipping.

After choosing a preset, you can review and edit the rule before saving it.

## What are rule presets?

Rule presets are ready-made rule templates.

They include suggested values for:

- processing time
- delivery time after dispatch
- cutoff time
- working days
- stock status
- message template
- common rule conditions

Presets do not change your store until you save the rule.

## Where to find rule presets

To use a rule preset:

1. Go to **WooCommerce → Delivery Promise**.
2. Open the **Rules** tab.
3. Click **Create from Preset**.
4. Choose a preset.
5. Review the prefilled rule.
6. Adjust the conditions if needed.
7. Save the rule.

## Available presets

### Same-day dispatch

Use this when in-stock products can dispatch today if the customer orders before your cutoff time.

Typical setup:

```php
Processing time: 0–0 days
Delivery time after dispatch: 1–3 days
Cutoff time: 14:00
Working days: Monday–Friday
Stock status: In stock
```

Best for:

- stocked products
- fast warehouse processing
- stores with a daily dispatch cutoff

### Standard shipping

Use this for your normal shipping method.

Typical setup:

```php
Processing time: 1–2 days
Delivery time after dispatch: 3–5 days
Working days: Monday–Friday
```

- economy shipping
- standard delivery
- default store-wide estimates

### Express shipping

Use this for faster shipping methods.

Typical setup:

```php
Processing time: 0–1 days
Cutoff time: 14:00
Working days: Monday–Friday
Stock status: In stock
```

Best for:

- next-day shipping
- tracked express services
- priority delivery methods

After selecting this preset, choose the shipping method it should apply to.

### Backorder products

Use this when products on backorder need extra processing time.

Typical setup:

```php
Processing time: 7–14 days
Delivery time after dispatch: 2–5 days
Stock status: On backorder
```

Best for:

- products waiting for restock
- preordered products
- items not ready for immediate dispatch

### Made-to-order products

Use this when products need preparation or production before dispatch.

Typical setup:

```php
Processing time: 5–10 days
Delivery time after dispatch: 2–5 days
Working days: Monday–Friday
```

Best for:

- handmade items
- printed products
- customized products
- prepared-to-order items

### Bulky or freight items

Use this when large or heavy products need longer handling and transit time.

Typical setup:

```php
Processing time: 2–4 days
Delivery time after dispatch: 5–10 days
Working days: Monday–Friday
```

Best for:

- freight items
- oversized products
- heavy products
- products requiring special handling

### International shipping

Use this for cross-border orders.

Typical setup:

```php
Processing time: 1–3 days
Delivery time after dispatch: 7–14 days
Working days: Monday–Friday
```

Best for:

- international shipping zones
- cross-border orders
- longer transit windows

After selecting this preset, choose the country or shipping zone it should apply to.

### Warehouse closed on weekends

Use this when your store does not process orders on Saturday or Sunday.

Typical setup:

```php
Processing time: 1–2 days
Delivery time after dispatch: 2–4 days
Working days: Monday–Friday
```

Best for:

- Monday–Friday warehouses
- stores with weekend closures
- businesses that only dispatch on working days

## Presets are editable

A preset is only a starting point.

After selecting a preset, you can edit:

- rule name
- priority
- product conditions
- category conditions
- shipping method
- country
- processing time
- transit time
- cutoff time
- message override

The rule is not saved until you click save.

## Recommended first presets

For a typical store, start with:

1. **Standard shipping**
2. **Express shipping**
3. **Backorder products**
4. **International shipping**, if you sell internationally

This gives you a good base for most delivery scenarios.

## Example setup

You can create these rules:

```php
Standard Shipping
Processing: 1–2 days
Transit: 3–5 days
```

```php
Express Shipping
Processing: 0–1 days
Transit: 1–2 days
Cutoff: 14:00
```

```php
Backorder Products
Processing: 7–14 days
Transit: 2–5 days
```

This allows customers to see more accurate delivery estimates depending on the product and shipping method.

## Testing preset rules

After saving a preset rule:

1. Open the **Tester** tab.
2. Select a product.
3. Choose the relevant shipping method or stock status.
4. Run the preview.
5. Confirm the expected rule matched.

## Troubleshooting

### The preset rule is not applying

Check:

- the rule was saved
- the rule is enabled
- the shipping method condition is selected
- the product/category condition is correct
- the stock status matches
- another rule has higher priority

### The preset estimate looks wrong

Presets are only suggested starting points.

Edit the rule timing to match your real store workflow.

### I selected a preset but nothing changed on the frontend

Selecting a preset does not change the frontend until the rule is saved.

Open the rule editor, review the settings, and save the rule.
