# Size & fit guides

A size guide helps shoppers choose the right harness, collar, bed or coat. In Pawtani, a guide is a **synced pattern** you write: your measuring instructions and your size table. Products with a guide show a **Find the Right Fit** link that opens it in a dialog. Products without one show nothing.

## Write a guide

1. Go to **Appearance → Editor → Patterns** and click **Add pattern**.
2. Name it, for example *Harness size guide*, and keep **Synced** on.
3. Add your content. The **Pawtani: Size guides** patterns (harness and collar, pet bed) are good starting points: insert one and replace the sample measurements with your own.
4. Save.

The pattern's name is the dialog's title. Because guides are your own synced patterns, they stay in your site if you change theme.

## Show a guide

You can set a guide on a product, or on a category so every product in it uses the guide.

- **On a product:** edit the product, go to **Product data → Advanced** and choose it under **Size & fit guide**.
- **On a category:** go to **Products → Categories**, edit the category and choose it under **Size & fit guide**.

A product uses its own guide first. Without one, it uses the guide of its first category (or a parent category) that has one.

## Accessible by design

The dialog opens with the keyboard, moves focus inside, closes with **Escape** or the close button, and returns focus to the link. On phones it opens as a full-width sheet at the bottom of the screen.
