# The journal and editorial pages

Foliowick turns your blog into **the journal**: a magazine-style home for reviews, interviews and reading notes.

## Give the journal its own page

1. Create two pages, for example **Home** and **Journal**.
2. Go to **Settings → Reading**, choose **A static page**, set **Homepage** to Home and **Posts page** to Journal.

Your bookshop is then the front page, and articles live on the Journal page. The demo stores can set this for you (the **Use the demo Home page as the front page and The Journal for posts** option).

## The journal page

The journal page has a masthead, then your newest article as a lead story and the rest in a magazine grid. The homepage's **The reading journal** section shows your three latest articles.

## Articles

A single article is set like a literary magazine: a kicker, the title, a standfirst (the post's excerpt), a byline with the author and date, a wide featured image, the text at a comfortable reading width, its tags, the author's note and more from the journal.

Write a short **Excerpt** for each article: it becomes the standfirst under the title.

## Editorial pages

For an "Our story" or "Visit us" page set like a feature, edit the page, open **Template** in the sidebar and choose **Page: editorial story**. It shows an eyebrow, an oversized title, the page excerpt as a standfirst, the featured image and the content in a reading column.

**Page: full width, no title** is there for pages you build entirely from blocks.
