# Hooks and filters

Foliowick provides the filters below. Put the code in a small plugin, or in a child theme's `functions.php`.

Table of Contents

 [Toggle](#)

- [foliowick_author_taxonomy](#foliowick_author_taxonomy)
- [foliowick_condition_taxonomy](#foliowick_condition_taxonomy)
- [foliowick_forthcoming_tag](#foliowick_forthcoming_tag)
- [foliowick_newsletter_form](#foliowick_newsletter_form)

## `foliowick_author_taxonomy`

The taxonomy that holds book authors. Default `pa_book-author`. Point it at another attribute, or at a taxonomy from a books plugin:

```
add_filter( 'foliowick_author_taxonomy', function () {
	return 'pa_writer';
} );
```

Author names on cards, author pages, "Meet the Author" and author search all use it.

## `foliowick_condition_taxonomy`

The taxonomy that holds a copy's condition, shown under the title of secondhand books. Default `pa_condition`.

## `foliowick_forthcoming_tag`

The product tag that marks a book as forthcoming. Default `forthcoming`. Return an empty string to turn forthcoming books off.

```
add_filter( 'foliowick_forthcoming_tag', function () {
	return 'coming-soon';
} );
```

## `foliowick_newsletter_form`

The newsletter form, as block markup. Foliowick returns Jetpack's Subscriptions block when it's available, and an empty string otherwise. Return your provider's form block to show it in the homepage newsletter section and the footer:

```
// A Mailchimp for WordPress form, through its shortcode.
add_filter( 'foliowick_newsletter_form', function () {
	return '';
} );
```

Use your own form's ID, or any block markup your provider documents. When the filter returns an empty string, no form is shown.
