# The homepage

## Where to edit it

Go to **Appearance → Editor → Templates → Front Page**. Every section is its own pattern, under **Patterns → Foliowick: Homepage sections**, so you can reorder, remove or reuse them.

Each section **hides itself when your shop has nothing to show in it**, so a new store never shows empty shelves.

## The sections

From top to bottom:

| **The Editor's Pick** | The newest book tagged `editors-pick`, or the newest featured book |
| **New & Noteworthy** | Your newest books in a sideways-scrolling row |
| **Literary statement** | One sentence in large italic type. Click it to write your own |
| **Curated reading lists** | Your four biggest [reading lists](https://wpruby.com/knowledgebase/foliowick-genres-and-reading-lists/#reading-lists) |
| **Meet the Author** | The author with the most books among those with a [biography](https://wpruby.com/knowledgebase/foliowick-authors/#write-a-biography) |
| **The reading journal** | Your three latest [journal](https://wpruby.com/knowledgebase/foliowick-journal/) articles |
| **Newsletter** | Only when a newsletter provider is set up (see below) |

To show different books in a section, select its **Product Collection** (or **Single Product**) block and change the query.

## Starter homepages

The Children's bookshop, Rare & secondhand, Independent press and Ebooks & audiobooks [demo stores](https://wpruby.com/knowledgebase/foliowick-demo-stores/) apply their own homepage, built from the same kind of sections: browse by age, recent acquisitions, the list by series, forthcoming books, our authors, read or listen and so on. You'll find them in **Patterns → Foliowick: Homepage sections** too.

## Newsletter

Foliowick shows a sign-up form only when a newsletter provider is set up:

- **Jetpack Subscriptions** works out of the box: activate Jetpack and its Subscriptions feature.
- **Any other provider:** a developer can return the provider's form block from the `foliowick_newsletter_form` filter (see [Hooks and filters](https://wpruby.com/knowledgebase/foliowick-hooks/#foliowick_newsletter_form)).

Without a provider, the homepage leaves the newsletter section out, and the newsletter footer invites readers to the journal instead. Foliowick never stores subscriber data.
