## Does it need a page builder?

No. Foliowick is a block theme, so you edit it in the WordPress Site Editor.

## Do I need a books plugin?

No. Authors, formats, language, ISBN and other book details are ordinary WooCommerce product attributes, genres are categories and reading lists are tags. Foliowick stores no data of its own, so you can switch themes without losing anything.

## Why don’t author names show on my books?

Foliowick looks for a global attribute with the slug `book-author`. Create it under **Products → Attributes** with **Enable archives?** ticked, and add it to your books. See [Authors and author pages](https://wpruby.com/knowledgebase/foliowick-authors/).

## Why is a homepage section missing?

Sections hide themselves when the shop has nothing to show in them: no featured books, no genres with books, no reading lists, no author with a biography, no journal articles or no newsletter provider. See [The homepage](https://wpruby.com/knowledgebase/foliowick-homepage/).

## Can I sell ebooks and audiobooks?

Yes. Make them virtual, downloadable products or variations, so they need no shipping. See [Book details and editions](https://wpruby.com/knowledgebase/foliowick-books/#ebooks-and-audiobooks).

## Can I take pre-orders?

Yes, for forthcoming books: tag the book `forthcoming` and set it to **On backorder**. See [Forthcoming books and pre-orders](https://wpruby.com/knowledgebase/foliowick-secondhand-and-forthcoming/#forthcoming-books-and-pre-orders).

## How do I choose the Editor’s Pick?

Tag a book `editors-pick`. The newest book with that tag is the pick; without one, the newest featured book is used.

## Does the newsletter collect email addresses?

Only with a newsletter provider. Jetpack Subscriptions works out of the box, and developers can add any provider's form with the `foliowick_newsletter_form` filter. Without one, no form is shown. See [Newsletter](https://wpruby.com/knowledgebase/foliowick-homepage/#newsletter).

## Will a demo store overwrite my products?

No. The import only adds its own content, and **Remove demo content** deletes only what it created. See [Import a demo store](https://wpruby.com/knowledgebase/foliowick-demo-stores/).

## Can I change the colors and fonts?

Yes. Choose Modern Editorial, Classic Bookshop, Storytime or Inkwell under **Appearance → Editor → Styles**, or change the palette and fonts there yourself.

## Do I need a licence key for the theme to work?

No. Foliowick works fully without a licence. An active licence enables one-click updates from the dashboard. See [Activate your licence](https://wpruby.com/knowledgebase/foliowick-licence/).

## What happens when my licence expires?

The theme keeps working. You stop receiving updates until you renew.
